Cookie Policy

This document describes the cookies and similar tracking technologies used on the Tarlino website, explains their purpose, and provides instructions for managing or withdrawing consent at any time.

01 — What Are Cookies

Definition and General Description

Cookies are small text files placed on a visitor's device by a web server when a page is accessed. They are widely used to enable website functionality, remember user preferences, and collect aggregate information about how websites are used.

Cookies do not contain executable code and cannot be used to access files on a device. They are associated with the specific domain that sets them and can be read only by that domain. Session cookies are deleted when a browser is closed; persistent cookies remain for a defined period or until manually deleted.

02 — Cookies We Use

Summary of Cookie Categories

Tarlino uses three categories of cookies. The table below provides a high-level overview of each category, its purpose, and whether consent is required before the cookie is set.

Category Purpose Consent Required
Strictly Necessary Session management, security, cookie consent record No — always active
Functional Language preferences, navigation state Yes
Analytical Aggregate page visit data, session duration Yes
03 — Functional Cookies

Functional Cookie Details

Functional cookies enable enhanced website operation beyond strictly necessary functions. On the Tarlino site, functional cookies are used to remember navigation state across pages and store preferences selected by the visitor during a session.

tarlino_nav_pref Session

Stores navigation state for the mobile menu. Deleted when the browser session ends.

tarlino_consent 12 months

Records the consent choice made in the cookie banner. Prevents the banner from reappearing on subsequent visits within the consent period.

04 — Analytical Cookies

Analytical Cookie Details

Analytical cookies collect aggregate, anonymized data about how visitors interact with the Tarlino archive. This data is used solely to improve the structure, navigation, and content accessibility of the site. No individual visitor profile is built from this data.

Data collected includes: pages visited, session duration, approximate geographic region (city level only), device type, and browser version. IP addresses are anonymized before any storage or processing occurs.

Analytical cookies are only set after the visitor selects "Accept All" or "Accept Partial" in the cookie consent banner. Selecting "Functional Only" or closing the banner without selection will prevent analytical cookies from being set.

05 — Third-Party Cookies

External Services and Third-Party Cookies

The Tarlino contact page embeds a Google Maps iframe to display the archive office location. Google may set its own cookies when the map is loaded. These are governed by Google's own privacy and cookie documentation, which visitors are advised to review independently.

Tarlino does not use advertising networks, retargeting systems, or social media tracking pixels on this website. No third-party cookies are set for commercial tracking purposes.

06 — Managing Consent

How to Manage Cookie Consent

On your first visit to the Tarlino website, a cookie consent banner is displayed at the bottom of the screen. This banner provides three options:

  • Accept All: Strictly necessary, functional, and analytical cookies are all activated.
  • Accept Partial: Strictly necessary and functional cookies are activated. Analytical cookies are not set.
  • Functional Only: Only strictly necessary cookies are activated. No functional or analytical cookies are set.

Consent choices are stored in the tarlino_consent cookie for twelve months. After this period, the consent banner will reappear. Visitors may update their consent at any time using the Cookie Settings link in the website footer or the button below.

07 — Opt-Out Options

Browser-Level Cookie Controls

In addition to the consent controls provided on this website, most browsers offer built-in settings to block or delete cookies. Instructions for the most common browsers:

  • Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data.
  • Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data.
  • Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data.
  • Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Manage and delete cookies.

Note that disabling all cookies at the browser level may prevent some functional elements of this website from operating correctly, including the navigation menu on mobile devices.
